I went to see Heather Phillipson exhibition at the Tate Britain. The name of the exhibition was “Rupture No. 1: blowtorching the bitten peach”. As soon as you walk in all your senses are activated as you can see stuff and you can hear stuff. There is a red light that gave me the feeling of being inside something that is alive. I think the artist did an amazing job in making the gallery feel alive. My favorite pieces are the one that is at the entrance and the ribcage. The first picture has a huge newspaper devil. I took it as a metaphor, about how media has so much control over information and that amount of power, can be dangerous. The middle is filled with tablets with animals, and it has a lot of speakers playing different sounds. This gave me a feeling of life and reality. It was fun walking around this piece and slowly finding more details and things you didn’t notice before. The second piece I really liked was a huge ribcage. The different colored lights made the white in the ribcage look neon. I love how the piece blends with the background and the lights. It makes me realize how the ribcage protects the most important organs. For her to make it such a big part of her exhibit makes me think that this must be a very important part of the exhibition. I love her work and I cannot wait to see what she does In the future.
