In my Media@Work class, we had to create an informational poster based on the questions provided by our teacher. You could pick 1 of 7 questions. Each question had to be supported by a real case study free of our choosing. The question I chose is “How would you create an effective advertising campaign for a particular product and target audience?” The case study I choose is Fenty Beauty, first makeup brand to create 50 different foundation skin shades. I was very excited to write about this makeup company as I’ve been a fan of them for some time now. They are a company that not only cares about amazing quality but also about identity, visibility and inclusion. These are two subjects I’m very passionate about. I would love to pursue a career in the beauty industry specially one that matches my principles and beliefs. Expressing creativity in a way that will help and inform people about lack of representation and how important it is, Is one of Fenty beauty’s goal. Thanks to this advertising campaign many other brands felt inspired to expand their shade range for more skin tone inclusivity. Fenty Beauty made a wide variety of foundation shades a necessity instead of a luxury. Today it is unacceptable for other brands not to have a variety of different makeup shades and formulas. Everybody has the right to be represented in every industry including the beauty industry. I used Adobe Illustrator to create this poster. It was the perfect tool as it was easier to manage and organize the text. It gave me a lot of options with fonts and let me play with textures for the background. Overall Adobe Illustrator made the organization easy and it made the poster visually appealing. Attached is the Poster I made for this assignment.
