For this animation, I decided to create a brand-new company. A small bakery that has a morbid ingredient in their delicious cakes. It is called “Death by Cake”. They are having a grand opening and decided to go for a stop motion marketing video. For the video I used the app “Stop Motion Studio”. I used my iPad to record it and a desk lamp to add more lighting. I filmed this video in my kitchen as the pastel and dark colors go well with the “creepy cute” aesthetic I decided to go with. I used 3- dimensional objects as well as 2-dimensional illustrations. I used bright colored post it notes and different cards to convey the message of the video. I used words related to the name of the company. I took advantage of word play to make the video more appealing. Towards the end of the video, I used a real cake with the name of the bakery to give the audience a taste of what “Death by Cake” has to offer. When the video was done, I decided to use another app called “Prequel” to add music and a filter to make the colors from the video pop more. The filter I ended going with is called “Kid Core”, it makes the video more interesting as it has a high vibrance and a grainy look. The song I used is called “Twisted Nerve” (Herrmann, B. 1969.). This song has a lighthearted and creepy feel at the same time, which conveys exactly what the video is trying to communicate.
