A New Friend

Stop Motion. Something I never imagined my self doing. The project we had last week was to create a stop motion video. The theme of the project was “A new friend”. To continue with my hopelessness theme, I decided to end the video with a tragic accident. The video is about two characters a pig and a bear. They meet at a park and decide to climb trees together. Sadly, our little bear friend had a fatal fall. I used silk clay to create the characters and carton to create the tree. The app our teacher recommended us to use was “Studio Animation Pro”. At first, like always, I had a really hard time getting use to the app and learning how to use it properly. To help myself during this process I decided to educate myself about the process of stop animation filming. I stumbled across a very useful YouTube channel called “Science Filmmaking Tips.” (Nelson, R. 2018) I used a desk light to create suitable lighting and my iPad to record it. The message my video provides, is about how short life is. It is about how we need to enjoy every single moment even if they seem unsignificant. Every second is a new opportunity to meet someone new, grow and learn. Those moments can be short, that’s why we need to appreciate them as they will not last forever. Be grateful and continue to go forward. I am thankful I got to experience the magic of stop motion as I find it really fun and will work with it in future projects.
